“Come for the winter – Stay for the summer”  Locals say it all the time to visitors, and now more than ever this saying is ringing true.  Over the last couple of years there has been a real push to make Vail and Beaver Creek a year round destination and our home owners have never had more opportunities to take in some of the finest cultural events in the country.  In Vail, you can go see Bravo, with the New York Philharmonic, as well as several other renowned symphonies, or delight to The Vail Valley Dance Festival with a sampling of everything from hip hop to Ballet.  The Vilar Center at Beaver Creek will also be playing host to an eclectic group of respected artists.  Whether your preference is Country music, or Funk, there is a concert to please you.  So when you live in either Vail or Beaver Creek, summer is season to look forward to.

 

The Vilar Center- Located in the heart of the Colorado’s Beaver Creek Resort, this 530 seat theater presents a variety of year round performances, such as jazz, comedy, dance, film, musicals, theater, family shows, concerts, and more.  Below you will find some of the exciting events that will be taking place this summer at the Vilar Center.

Bravo

The year 1987 observed the inauguration of the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival when John Giovando, an attorney with a love of classical music, and Ida Kavafian, acclaimed violinist, first introduced world-class chamber musicians to the Vail Valley through a chamber music tour. These concerts started small; at one of these first concerts the musicians actually outnumbered the audience. Through a love of classical music, great leadership and stupendous support from the community, the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival has grown from a handful of attendees to an audience of more than 60,000.  The Festival is the largest cultural attraction in the Vail area.

Vail International Dance Festival

This year ushers in a new era for the Vail International Dance Festival. With new Artistic Director Damian Woetzel at the helm, the festival promises to bring the finest dance in the world to the Vail Valley. Featuring performances by the critically acclaimed Pacific Northwest Ballet, the highly anticipated world-wide debut of Morpheses/The Wheeldon Company and the return of audience favorite showcases International Evenings of Dance and Ballroom’s Best, the festival is poised to be the biggest and best yet. Presented by the Vail Valley Foundation.

July 31 -  Hot Summer nights with BREAK! – An urban funk spectacular showcasing the history of hip hop dancing

August 3, International evening of Dance – Dancers Chosen by Director Damian Woetzel
August 6 – An evening with Savion Glover
August 10 – The Wheeldon Company – Morphoses, A World debut
August 11- Ballrooms Best – A night of Tango, Rumba, and Cha Cha!

Hot Summer Nights


Bud Light Hot Summer Nights
Come outdoors for the rockin' social event of the season with hot bands in a casual, up-beat setting. All for free! The 20th anniversary season of Bud Light Hot Summer Nights is scheduled for every Tuesday evening from June 19 through August 21 (excluding August 7), at 6:30pm. Doors to the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater open at 5:30pm. The 2007 edition of Bud Light Hot Summer Nights features an extended season, with a total of 9 free concerts scheduled throughout the course of the summer months. The series will also include a special dance performance on July 31 in conjunction with the Vail International Dance Festival.

Beaver Creek Rodeo


The Beaver Creek Rodeo brings the wild west to the refined world of Beaver Creek.  The Rodeo features events that everyone can enjoy.  Events include Bareback Bronc Riding,  Calf Scramble, Team Roping,  Barrel Racing,  Burro Racing and Bull Riding.  Special events for the kids include Mutton Bustin'- The youngest cowboys and cowgirls show their stuff in this Rodeo favorite. The buckaroo who holds on to his or her wild-n-wooly sheep the longest brings home a trophy and the Calf Scramble where The first five buckaroos to capture ribbons from the tails of a group of friendly calves win prizes!
  The Rodeo take place every Thursday evening throughout the summer except for August 2.  On August 2, the Rodeo will be replaced by the Eagle County Rodeo in the town of Eagle at the fairgrounds.  Gates open at 5:00 and the Rodeo begins at 6:00.
