Colorado has more than great skiing: Getting Ready for the Taste of Vail

On top of fabulous spring skiing, come April 2nd through April 5th Vail Colorado is serving up incredible dishes at the 18th annual Taste of Vail.  The event will feature 35 guest chefs, owners and sommeliers from 50 wineries.

The events kicks off with the Colorado Lamb cook-off in Vail Village and all proceeds benefit local Vail Valley charities.  The après ski crowd looks forward to wine tastings and this years tasting is being called “Life Beyond Chardonnay, Cabernet & Merlot”.

This is an event where everyone gets high. That’s because the afternoon picnic at Eagles Nest is at 10,350 feet with an igloo Martini Bar.  Dinner at the Ritz Carlton in Bachelor Gulch with a chef showcase will put a perfect ending to the third day of the event.

The grand finale, known as the Grand Tasting Dinner will be held at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort and Spa and will include fantastic food tastings with wine pairings to compliment the dishes.

So bring your skis to Vail in April and make sure you bring your appetites for the Taste of Vail. Be sure to start drinking lots of water in preparation for the altitude and it is helpful to some to start drinking Gatorade daily prior to coming. Water is the key to making sure it is a dream vacation rather than an altitude sickness nightmare.
